A Parish of the Diocese of Youngstown, Most Reverend George V. Murry, S.J., Bishop
The 1976 St Mary's Men and Boys Choir, Massillon, Ohio
Harold R Conti, Organist and Choirmaster
We can praise Our Lord that this precious music was discovered and able to be digitally mastered. The most favorite piece of many choir members from that period will always be "The Battle Hymn of the Republic", as many persons wanted to have it recorded for "The Centennial" vinyl LP. At the end of Mass, many parishioners would turn around and stand still upon hearing Mr. Conti's evocative organ introduction. Joyously, the Boys Choir soars to the second B flat above middle C on the final "Amen." It was the Men and Boys Choir's signature piece of that time period. The second most precious piece of sacred music contained on this CD is "The Lord Is My Shepherd." The full dynamics of the rich message of Psalm 23 are clearly expressed in song. When the choirs sing verse number 6 and the Mens Choir ends the piece with two "Amens," it is a soothing balm to every soul.
"So shall My Word be that goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me void, but shall do My Will, achieving the end for which I sent it. Yes, in joy you shall depart, in peace you shall be brought back...." Isaiah 55: 11,12Back To Index
